This is why parents buy such crap cars for their kids, if at all.
Did you know: the insurance excess for drivers under 21 is about $1500?

I ride in a merc everyday: And let me tell you, this is very economical. I don't have to fork out thousands in insurance, registration or maintnence, infact, I pay no more than $40 a month; it runs very efficiently; gets me to where I have to be on time; and I am not concerned with trivial details such as fuel prices. This is Chloe: Has no will power to save money for lessons, or a car, or the insurance, registration or learners fees... How good is public transport!!! (Except when the bloody bus doesn't turn up of an afternoon. NOW that gives you the shits! ) Congratulations Bonnie! don't go killing yourself...

mark it depends on which insurance company you go with. my excess is $800. however, im paying $2080 a year ... But hey, that's what you get when you drive a new car I suppose? I feel a lot safer in my car knowing that it is unlikely that my car is going to ahve a major breakdown or anything like that...
What you can do though, is say you do 40% of driving and yuor parents 60% in the car... and that reduces your insurance..

I have my first test on the 28th of march, although saying I'll pass first time will only jinx me, so I won't.

dodgy things happen when you drive. the frequency of wierdness in my life has increased since I got my license. maybe it's because you cover more area in driving so the odds of seeing crazy things are trebled or something.
*sigh* my car broke down in Freo on saturday. that was an adventure. apparently my starter motor wasn't starting. i waited 45 minutes for the RAC and all he did was bang it with a hammer to start it again. i couldn't believe that was the professional method of solving the problem. hammers and violence are my new best friends. be afraid.

I hope I get my licence soon, it'd make things a lot easier in case I get pulled over by cops.
